7 Times You Thought You Were Phoebe Buffay

Which "Friend" are you? Probably Phoebe.

We've probably all related to the show "Friends." The characters are all very real, and they each have their own personality. At times, you may find that you're like multiple characters from the show. When you have a sarcastic and witty comeback, you feel like Chandler Bing. When you suddenly realize your love for sandwiches, you feel like Joey Tribbiani. There are so many times when I'm watching "Friends" and a character will do something, and I just think, "That is so me." A character from the show that I believe people can probably most relate to would be Phoebe Buffay. Phoebe, in case you didn't know, is the free-spirited and quirky one of the group. While we may feel like a Monica or a Ross, I think Phoebe is what we truly feel like. She's us if we're being honest. There's probably at least seven times that you thought that you were actually Phoebe Buffay.

1. When people ask you to do things, but... You just aren't feelin' it.

We all know that feeling. Need to go to the dentist, but don't want to? Just don't. Friends want to hang out, but you want to stay in and binge-watch Netflix? Be honest and tell them you don't want to. That's what Phoebe would do.

2. When you like food more than finding a stable relationship.

Obviously everyone loves food, but if it comes between a cute date and a pizza, you might choose the pizza. Unless the cute date is paying for the pizza. Then you should definitely go on that date.

3. When someone hurts your friends.

You can pick on your friends as much as you want, but as soon as someone else says something mean to them or negative about them... It's on.

4. When you experience heartbreak.

Whether it's the love of your life, or the realization that you already ate the last french fry in the bag, it probably still feels like a giant pigeon crapped on your heart. Especially with the french fry. Why does it always feel like you had one more?

5. When people ask you your future goals, and you're like, "What are goals?"

Future plans? You haven't even planned what you're having for dinner tonight because you're still emotional about the french fry incident. If you were Monica, your future plans would be to get married and have lots of babies, but since you're Phoebe, you'll just chill on the floor and drink with bendy-straws.

6. When you emotionally connect with a cat.

Or any animal, in fact. Let's face it. That cat is probably (definitely) your lost loved one. We've all been there.

7. When you find creative ways to talk about the things you care about.

In Phoebe's case, she wrote a song about a smelly cat. Since "Smelly Cat" already exists, you can write a short story about the last french fry in the bag. A tale of true sorrow. You should call it, "Too Much Ketchup Left: When You Run Out of French Fries." Beautiful.

Whether you're more of a Monica, Rachel, Ross, Chandler or Joey, you're more than likely a little bit of Phoebe. We all are, and we should embrace it. Embrace your inner Phoebe Buffay. You probably shouldn't embrace your inner smelly cat though.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

1. When you've finally found the energy to leave your dorm room and walk into the lib like

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
