In an ensemble cast full of bright stars, NBC's hit drama This Is Us features one character that continues to steal the show each week. Jack Pearson, played by Milo Ventimiglia, is Rebecca's husband and the father of Kevin, Kate and Randall. While he's not quite perfect, he inhibits the qualities that classify him as pretty close to perfect. He's handsome, strong, kind and possibly the best father on TV. It's impossible not to fall a little bit more in love with Jack each week as we learn more about him and his family members.

Each character on This Is Us is so well thought out and developed that it's difficult to decide who we love the most, but from the moment Jack was introduced to the current Jack we've gotten to know by the end of Season 1, there's no denying that he is by far one of the most lovable characters. Here are the seven times Jack managed to steal the show and steal our hearts in the process.

1. When he does push ups with Randall on his back

In an effort to help a young Randall connect with his cultural background, Jack and Rebecca bring their son to a karate class during Episode 9, titled "The Trip." During the class Jack is asked by the instructor to perform pushups with Randall on his back. While he performs the task, he is told to state his intentions of raising Randall into the best person he can be. Even after the instructor told Jack he could stop, Jack continues to do the pushups with Randall on his back, which proves that his love for Randall could never be changed due to their genetic differences. The scene emphasizes Jack’s pure love for his son, which left many fans with happy tears.

2. When he gives up drinking to be the best husband and father he can be

In the second episode titled "The Big Three," viewers got a glimpse of Jack's drinking problem. The kids are about 8 years old and Jack's marriage with Rebecca is becoming stale. His drinking has clearly gotten out of hand and it has taken a toll on all of the relationships in his life. When having a heart to heart about his problem with Rebecca, he promises her that he'll give up drinking in order to be the best husband and father he can be.

3. When he vogued to make Kate feel better at her birthday party

Episode 13, "Three Sentences," told the story of the kids and Jack's birthday celebrations. For the Big Three's birthday, each kid wanted there own party and opted to have separate tenth birthday parties. When Kate became upset during her Madonna themed party, Jack went out of his comfort zone to do the one thing he knows Madonna does best: Voguing. Based on the 2017 version of Kate, viewers know that she had a close relationship with her father, so it was great to see Jack interact with her and try to make her happy.

4. When Jack stayed strong after losing one of the triplets

Learning that one of Jack and Rebecca's children didn't survive in the pilot episode is still one of the most tragic things to happen on the show. Jack had to remain strong and find the good in the awful situation for the sake of Rebecca. This was our introduction to Jack and it was debatably the best introduction of all of the characters.

5. When he acted as Pilgrim Rick

Episode 8 is a Thanksgiving themed episode titled "Pilgrim Rick." The Pearson family head on a road trip to spend the holiday with Rebecca's family, which is a plan no one is particularly excited about. After their car breaks down, they have no choice but to spend the night at the Pinewood Lodge. They are greeted by the innkeeper that goes by "Pilgrim Rick," which ultimately inspires the character Jack plays in order to cheer the kids up on a night that could potentially ruin the holiday. Jack's portrayal of the innkeeper not only lightened the mood, but started a Thanksgiving tradition that the family still participates in after his tragic passing.

6. When Jack gave up his dreams in order to help Randall achieve his own

"Career Days," the sixth episode of the season, follows Jack's struggle with working a desk job, as well as the Pearsons learning how intellectually advanced Randall is. Jack later learns that Randall is not doing his best in school because he is afraid that if he is differently than his siblings, they'll grow to hate him. While Jack dreams of building his own business and has the support of his whole family, he decides to take a new desk job that he doesn't enjoy so that the family can afford to send Randall to a private school that he can show his true potential at. The selfless act shows what a wonderful and caring father he is.

7. When Miguel told Kevin how much he reminds him of Jack

While Jack is not in this scene, the conversation that takes place between Miguel and Kevin in Episode 15 titled "Jack Pearson's Son" speaks volumes about his character. Miguel explains to Kevin why it hurts him so much that they have such a bad relationship. After all, Kevin is the son of his deceased best friend. Miguel explains how much of Jack he see's in Kevin and how Jack will always be his best friend, even though he is currently married to Jack's widow. Miguel ends the emotional conversation by reminding Kevin that as Jack Pearson's son, he can be the steadying person in other people's lives the same way his father was for everyone in his life. Jack may has passed, but his legacy will always be that he deeply loved everyone in his life.

As viewers still wait and create theories about how Jack dies, one thing is for sure. Jack has had a very large impact on the audience of This Is Us. Between his love for his family, his dedication to being a good person and his emphasis on friendship, Jack Pearson has managed to steal the hearts of millions of viewers. Let's hope that he continues to do so as the series continues.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
