As PKs, we are not understood at all. People think they know what it is like to be a pastor's kid — how we act and what we do. But they rarely actually do know anything about us at all. I hope the following helps clear a few things about pastor's kids.
Listen up! Not all of the stereotypes you here about pastor's kids are true.
At Christmas time and Easter time, it's not just one service and it's over. It's usually multiple ones, and if both of your parents are pastors of separate churches, you have double the number of services to go to.
Your parent(s) also make time to sit down and talk to you even when they have a million things to do with their church. But you have to be careful what you say to them, 'cause they might use you in their sermon and tell the whole congregation what's going on in your life.
People always say it must be hard to be a pastor's kid. But honestly I don't know anything different, and I love being a pastor's kid.
People are always coming to talk to your dad and/or mom about something, whether it's at the church or at your house.
People are always coming up to you, but you have no idea who they are. So, you're just like, "Who are you? And why do you know me?"
Just like bow ties, being a pastor's kid is cool. There's no doubt about it.
Thanks, "Doctor Who," for being here for us pastor's kids!
