I'm by no means a marathon runner -- or even a half marathoner. Not even close. But I do enjoy running for the most part. It's become a great way for me to clear my head while getting a good workout in. As long as I have some music and a pretty trail to look at, I'm good to go -- for the most part. Here's to everyone who loves (hates) to run and probably what goes through your mind while you're doing so.
1. "This was such a great idea."
This is probably what runs through your head when you first start out. The sun is shining, it's a beautiful day and you haven't started sweating yet, so you're feeling pretty confident.
2. "I'm probably burning so many calories right now."
Maybe you're starting to breathe a little heavier, so you slyly feel your stomach, which feels pretty cold at this point. You know what that means...you can eat even more today than you would have if you hadn't run.
3. "This is getting really boring."
By now, you're probably a couple miles in, and your playlist just isn't cutting it anymore. You probably consider trying a podcast, but if you're anything like me, you'll forget to look for one before your next run.
4. "I didn't think it was this hot."
You're now dripping. You blame the heat, but it's probably just because you're not as in-shape as you thought you were. I understand.
5. "My legs are going to fall off. I need new shoes."
It's officially not fun anymore. You can't breathe, and your legs are burning. The only thing you can do now is think of the sneakers you're going to order when you get home so you don't have this problem next time.
6. "How has it really only been that long?"
You're just totally over it at this point. Maybe you didn't reach your goal mileage, but it's time to go home.
7. "Wow, I feel so good after that."
This feeling after a run always gives you false hope that the next time will be better. It's what keeps you coming back.
