7 Thoughts You Have Before Your Senior Year Of College (As Told By Harry Potter Gifs)
bustle.com

Right now many of us are most likely working, spending time with friends, and coming terms with the fact that the 2016/2017 school year is right around the corner. For many of us, what seemed like something that was once so far off is now soon to be a reality, senior year. In honor of the class of 2017 soon starting our last year in college, and "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" recently coming out, here are seven thoughts of a senior about to graduate college, or Hogwarts.

1. "Where did the time go?"

It seems like just yesterday we were all fresh out of high school and excited to be starting our college careers, and yet we all have a mere few weeks until we start our final year in college. Even though we have all been told several times by friends and family members that “your college years fly by.”, it doesn’t truly resonate until you realize that freshman year was three years ago, and senior year is three weeks from now.

2. "I'm not ready for this."

Change can be scary and while we all know senior year is inevitable, it can be easy to doubt whether or not we’re ready to take that step into the adult world.

3. "I am ready for that.

On the other hand, we have all worked hard to get to where we are today and as much as we may not think we're ready for what lies a head, we know deep down that our senior year is going to have some amazing moments.

4. "I have no idea what the future holds."

If college has taught us anything, it's that not everything is set in stone and things change all the time. We may not know what step lies ahead or how we will handle whatever obstacles come our way, but we do know that being uncertain is OK and as one chapter of our book ends, another begins.

5. "I feel old."

Sure, in the grand scheme of things, we are only in our early- twenties, but we all remember how when we were 18, being 22 seemed like it was just a Taylor Swift song, and now, it will soon be a reality.

6. "I hope I get the internship/job I want."

Whether this year brings applications for internships, the jobs of your dreams, or both, we all have aspirations that we have been working toward, and we all hope we have done enough to get a little bit closer to our dream career.

7. "I'm going to make this the greatest year yet."

Despite being sad about it being the beginning of an end, senior year is an opportunity. It’s an opportunity to be involved in whatever you want to be involved in, and appreciate your surroundings as well as the people you surround yourself with. With less than a year remaining before we embark into the real world, this year will be full of "last's" and I plan to make all of them count.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
