The week or two before spring break is never stress-free. There are always random writing assignments that spring up or an exam you thought wasn't for another week, but is actually in two days. This time is not always fun, but keeping in your mind that it is less than seven days until a week of no school will keep you motivated. Until then, here are seven thoughts that we're all having.

1. "Why do I have zero time to do anything I want to do?"

This last week feels like work overload, and we never expect it because midterms aren't supposed to be like finals week, but they sure feel like it.

2. "Can I go home now?"

Everyone is in need of a long break but it is still a whole week away. The time may go by slowly, but soon it will be there and you can finally relax.

3. "I love how all my professor want to give us an exam on Green Beer Day."

I was lucky enough as a freshman to have my professor move our exam up to the Tuesday before spring break. It seems like this year's professors are not being so generous...

4. "Is it too late to work on my bikini body?"

Everyone always has the idea that they will be going on a diet leading up to spring break, but being overly stressed and in college is not a good match for trying to stay healthy and workout 24/7.

5. "Did on turn in my paper on time?"

There are too many assignments and too many tests to study for -- you gotta keep your mind in check and set lots of reminders for due dates!!

6. "Lets hope the professor feels like being nice and curves the exam."

Midterms are never too easy, but if you put the effort in to study and try your best, then that is all that matters. There are going to be other exams and ways to help save your grade.

7. "Only one more week and then I am free."

The time will fly by and soon enough you will be relaxing on the beach with your friends. One more week of working your ass off will be worth it.

It feels better knowing everyone is going through this and you are definitely not alone in your stress and agony. But soon enough you will be on break and not thinking about those stressful few weeks before.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
