Election Day is approaching fast and here are some of my thoughts,
1. Who will be president?
Everyone has an idea in their head as to who the next president will be but I'm still curious as to who will win, or should I say...nervous?
2. How many people will choose not to vote?
A lot of people keep saying " Oh I'm not voting because I don't like the candidates", or " My vote doesn't really matter" . Well, both of those statements are wrong. Every vote does matter and in my opinion, if you choose not to vote then you have no room to complain when whoever wins the election. Not saying you should " pick the lesser of evils" but, you should definitely educate yourselves and find a candidate that you feel is best representing your wants and needs. Even if you can't decide after all of that, well at least you are better educated on what is happening.
3. Media Bias?
A lot of people don't realize it but a majority of news stations are biased. I shouldn't say a lot of people but a majority of people don't actually sit down and figure out what the news stations are feeding them. I'm not going to name anything because someone could think differently. Just listen to a few different news outlets and see which one they seem to be favoring.
4. Do we have misinformed / uninformed voters?
Something I have been thinking about lately is how informed voters are nowadays. Some people will just go off of what they hear on the radio or what happens to pop up on TV, but are they getting real information? One of my biggest concerns is that voters aren't giving themselves the time they need or deserve to make honest opinions and choices and are just reciting what they are told.
5. Is this all just a reality TV show?
I don't know about everyone else but throughout this entire election everything just seems so fake and scripted. I bet a lot of you are laughing at that last statement saying " Well, DUH". But the reason I say this is because it scares me, it scares me that our country is not being taken seriously anymore along with the rest of us.
6. Why so violent?
I know everyone says politics isn't for sissy's but when did it become okay to outright tell someone their opinion is wrong? An opinion is just that, an opinion. An opinion can be neither right nor wrong. Or the name calling? When did it become okay to tell some they're stupid because of who they vote for? If that's who they feel best represents them, then what everyone else has to say about their choice is invalid. Oh, and one more thing, why are people publicly destroying property over all of this? Why does a sign that someone has in their yard offend someone else so much that they feel the need to go set it on fire, rip it up, steal it, etc?
7. Is this just the beginning?
My last thought for all of this is if this is just the beginning. Everyone keeps saying "This mess will be over after election day" and I'm not too confident about that. Well depending on who wins the election. I think we haven't even begun to see the real mess ahead of us.
