Even though the Republican and Democratic conventions have yet to take place, general election campaigning is in full swing. Insults, negative ads and lies are flying back-and-forth between presumptive nominees Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Unfortunately, all of this mudslinging is making it nearly impossible to see each candidate’s vision for the country. When did any sort of cordiality and civility leave the presidential election process?
Here are a few thoughts I have about the 2016 presidential election.
1. Seriously, both of you need to delete your Twitter accounts.
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are in a Twitter fight. Is this really what we have come to?
2. Wait, who actually voted for you?
Are we sure these are our choices?
3. Maybe I should look into third party candidates...
4. Why are we all so divided?
This nation was built on bargain and compromise. Why is that so hard for us now?
5. I'm personally offended by what you are saying.
Yes, I am talking about Donald Trump.
6. Let's talk about real issues.
7. Maybe I should just move.
Canada doesn't seem so bad after all.
