1. Sleep In

You've worked your butt off the past few days. You've put in a lot of work and a lot of hours. You deserve to sleep in, I promise. Once you get yourself up and you're totally not crabby or groggy because you got a full, restful, wonderful night's sleep, make some breakfast for yourself.

2. Go Shopping

All that hard-earned money has to go somewhere right? Maybe it's not the best idea to splurge when you have bills to pay and textbooks to purchase for school, but you probably deserve those jeans or those boots you've been oogling over for the past three or four months. Even something as small as some earrings you want or a new phone case is worth getting excited over.

3. Go To Your Favorite Coffee Shop

Go to Starbucks (like actually go into the store) with a book, order your favorite over-priced coffee beverage, sit down in one of the soft squishy chairs, and relax. If you're not into books, bring your laptop and watch an episode or two of your favorite show on Netflix. You'll have a little while to yourself, you'll get to relax, and you'll be able to sip on a delicious caffeinated beverage.

4. Go Swimming

Swimming is very relaxing and very fun! If the weather is nice, grab some friends and hit up the local pool, lake, ocean, whatever is easiest. If the weather isn't nice, indoor pools are always fun too. Nothing beats heading out on the boat, a jetski, or just hanging out on a floatie on a sunny summer day.

5. Get Your Tan On

Again, if weather permits, get out there and lay out in the sun. Throw on some sunscreen, your favorite tanning lotion, bronzer or whatever you prefer and get that summer glow for back-to-school season. I usually bring a book with me, my Bluetooth speaker and some snacks.

6. Binge Watch a Show

Start a new show on Netflix. You'll get invested in it and since you have the day off, you're totally in the clear to watch an entire season or two or three. I would highly recommend Orange is the New Black, How I Met Your Mother, Friends, That 70's Show and House of Cards.

7. Go See A Movie

If you can't find something that interests you on Netflix, grab your friend, sister, brother, mom, or SO and see something that looks good in theaters. Even if nothing really peaks your interest, it never hurts to look up reviews and ratings online and see whichever one did well in the box office.

Side Note: Marcus Theatres offer a $5 Tuesday deal which includes a free popcorn for rewards members and $2 hot dogs and candy.

So here's to you and your day off. Enjoy whatever you decide to do and remember you deserve it.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
