7 Things You Learn From Getting Throw In The Deep End

Imagine you're an unassuming child who doesn't know how to swim. Your father takes you to the nearby lake and tells you that if you want to swim you just have to paddle like a dog and not panic and that in order to stay afloat in the water all you have to do it lie on your back and relax. You listen, then you say okay, and suddenly without warning he throws you into the deepest part of the lake. He jumps in after you just in case.

At first you're caught of guard and afraid, but you remember what he told you and you're soon doing it, swimming. While it may take other kids a very long time to get used to the water, feel comfortable, learn and then finally make their way to jumping in the deep end of the lake, you're swimming around like a fish in just minutes.

7. Get out of your comfort zone

Although your comfort zone is well, comfortable, all the great things that you are destine to achieve lie outside of that zone. Some far, far outside. So if you ever want to achieve them, you've got to take that first step out.

6. Don't be scared, be cautious

Being scared is normal in situations that threaten your well being and that is just being cautious and it's important to recognize the difference between cautious and scared. Being cautious could save your life but sometimes the things that we are afraid of aren't necessarily a threat to our well being, sometimes they're just holding you back and they go away once you've faced them head on.

5. Trust yourself

Most people underestimate what they're capable of or doubt themselves at the last minute. Let go and trusting that everything will be okay. If you mess up than that's just a mistake that you can learn from.

4. Don't be afraid to fail

This is often said but it is very true. None of life's greatest achievements could have been achieved without multiple failures. And those failures never would have occurred without multiple, sometimes hopeless attempts.

3. Learn to adapt, quickly

Things change sometimes without warning and it is difficult to adapt sometimes, especially when you get so used to a certain way. Embracing that change and changing with it will make your life a lot less stressful and more fulfilling.

2. Expect the unexpected

Don't get thrown off your guard and when something bad or undesirable happens, see how you can make the best of the situation and roll with the punches.

1. Sink or swim

When you're thrown in the deep in, you sink of swim. You must chose to swim-- yes this is a choice. Even if it seems like you're getting no where or you're unsure or even a little scared, the best thing to do it to try your hardest and learn from your mistake and in no time you'll be swimming like a fish.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
