December has just started and winter is coming soon! You know what that means, my birthday! Oh, and Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Year's, and I'm sure some others. I've been in the Christmas spirit since Halloween, but now that it's actually December and socially acceptable to be this excited, I'm letting it all out. Before you know it, finals are finally going to be over and it's time for a one-month break full of Netflix and well deserved relaxation. During this wonderful (freezing) time of year. there are tons of things to put you in the holiday spirit.
1. Make cookies.
So many cookies! I'm ready to make a mess in the kitchen. Decorating sugar cookies is one of my favorite parts of the holidays. Getting together the family for a night of cookies with Christmas songs playing in the background is exactly how I plan on spending my break.
2. Decorate!
It doesn't just have to be cookies, believe it or not. The whole house! Go crazy! Lights, snowflakes, ornaments covering the tree. I want it to be a cat's dream.
3. Watch Christmas movies.
Okay, so this doesn't get you away from the TV, but what's better than curling up under the covers with a cup of hot cocoa to watch one of the classics?
4. Play in the snow.
Speaking of snow angels! Let out your inner child by building a snowman. Maybe he'll even come to life. Why stop there? Build an entire snow family. And then sled down the biggest hill you can find.
5. Go shopping!
Of course everyone loves getting presents, but it's even more fun to give them! Not to brag, but I am an expert at picking out the perfect present. It's the most rewarding to see a person's face light up when you totally nailed their present.
6. Take a trip to NYC.
New York City around Christmas time is truly magical. Go see the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and just imagine it in your own living room. A girl can dream right? To make it a really breathtaking experience, go ice skating too, if you have those skills. I certainly do not.
7. Wake up Christmas morning.
I can't wait to be woken up by my younger brother on December 25th unnecessarily early to see that Santa has come. We'll unwrap presents and have pancakes, and then spend all day with family (and food). I'm already ready for next year.
