Think about the last compliment you got. I'm 95% sure it was something about your physical appearance or about a talent you have. Both are nice, and I'm not underestimating the power behind compliments like those; however, let's be a little bit more unique, a little quirky, fun, and meaningful, etc. There are numerous things worth complimenting another person on that extends past physicality and abilities such as:

1. Wisdom

Telling someone that you think they are wise is one of the best compliments you can give to a person. You are not only complimenting their intelligence, but their ability to apply that intelligence. Good stuff.

2. A Good Taste in Music

Who else loves getting this one???? Just me??

3. Their Love of Something

This takes a little explaining. Complimenting someone by saying "I love that you love _____" shows that you care about them as a person, rather than whatever material thing they care about. It is a greater way to show someone you appreciate who they are, even on a surface level like saying you love how much they love pancakes.

4. Work Ethic

Let's be honest—few people have it. If you find a rare gem with great work ethic, compliment the heck out of that.

5. Kindess

If someone shows you kindness, appreciate it. It can be rare in today's society. If someone is a genuine, kind person, really appreciate and value that.

6. Food Choices

Why not compliment someone on their culinary choices???

7. Everything You Value about That Person.

Always compliment and encourage those you care about, or even those you barely know. If you find something to compliment someone on, share it with them. Even if that means complimenting someone on their appearance or their abilities—those aren't bad things, just make sure you don't stop there.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
