7 Things We Can Learn From Kids
Fat Kid Problems

Children are a perfect combination of innocence and curiosity, a mix that provides both great entertainment and frustrations. Kids of all ages understand very important lessons that many adults seem to forget over the years. Their desire to seek out the things they love most and pursue whatever that may be. As adults, paying attention to a few childlike characteristics could be the change to bring a little extra sparkle in your life:

1. They ask questions.

Not only do they ask questions, they are fearless in their pursuit of an answer. They don't think about how the question will be perceived or the potential social ramifications of this decision. Kids just jump in and go. Their desire to learn is one that few adults continue to nurture, a quality that severely impacts their ability to continue to grow.

2. They don't judge.

Spend very little time concerned with the color of skin, gender, or disabilites. Of course, they will ask questions (sometimes in a very embarrassing way!) but have no strong thoughts on the matter. Kids just want to make friends. They don't waste time thinking about social status or who loves who. Their only measurement is in the kindness of others. Prejudices are built based upon the people they are watching and learning from.

3. They express their emotions.

Kids spend little time concerned with their reactions to their emotions. When they are happy, they show it in smiles or laughter. When they are angry or sad, they show tears. Kids are unafraid to respond to their emotions in the way that comes naturally to them. Many times, adults focus on trying to control their feelings instead of handling it in an appropriate way. When life gets to be too much, never be afraid to feel (and maybe take a nap!).

4. They play.

Now this one sounds ridiculous, right? Wrong. Seriously, look it up! Play time requires you to be creative and get out of your comfort zone. You might even have to get downright silly in order to fit in with

5. They value time over money.

Kids understand the importance of time. Sure, kids love having the toys they see in commercials, but they don't value material items nearly as much as they love spending time with others. Kids want attention. Kids want to be with those who love them.

6. They proudly show their passions.

From art projects to short stories, kids are wildly passionate and unafraid to boast about these gifts. They put themselves wholly into their dreams and don't stop to think about the consequences. Kids understand the importance of seeking what you want without a second thought.

7. They love.

More than anything in this world, kids love. They love with a force that seems impossible. They are fearless and willing to be vulnerable. Kids love others unconditionally and seek love in return. They are not afraid to love people or their favorite things, and confidently share this with others.

Of the many differences between children and adults, the greatest seems to be the zest for life and the neverending search for happiness. Kids don't second guess making decisions that they know they want. Although we cannot always be as impulsive as children, we can learn from their desires and incorporate their kindness and compassion into our everyday lives. Maybe the secret to happiness isn't so hard after all.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.
