My Home Away From Home.

7 Things I Wanted To Come Back To
Ashley Rose Elgin

There are several things that only happen when you are at college. When you live on campus, as I do, your school becomes your home away from home. Your dorm mates like your family. You do absolutely everything together and when you leave to go home for a long time, like the holidays, it can be hard. But you always look forward to coming back. Some things make you want to come back more than others do. A class you have to take might not make you want to begin the year again, but seeing your best friend would definitely make your return more enjoyable. Here are seven things that make my return to Brenau wonderful!

1. My Friends

Friends are always great to come back to and I always look forward to returning to school in January so I can be with my friends again.

2. The Showers

I know it seems strange but the showers at Brenau have better water pressure than my one at home and at Brenau you never run out of hot water!

3. Temperature Control

Every room in my building has an A/C Heater Unit in it so you can make your room whatever temperature you want it to be. I prefer mine cold enough for penguins to hibernate. Lol.

4. Food

I look forward to coming back to Brenau so I don’t have to cook for myself. I know, that is so incredibly childish of myself but it’s true. I’ve been spoiled by the convenience and when I go home it’s weird because I actually have to cook my own food.

5. Social Events-

Brenau loves to through a party. We are always up to something fun and fantastic and I love it!

6. My Team

I definitely miss my teammates when I leave in December and I look forward to returning in January so we can get back to what we do best! Training and running every day is what I love and with my teammates it’s even better!

7. Making My Own Decisions

At home I can make my own decisions but it’s just a bit different when you are living on your own. You choose when you wake up and when you go to bed. When you shower, brush your teeth, what you eat and when and where you go. It makes you feel just a little bit like a good adult even though most of the time we feel like we are epic fails at adult life or we are so stressed out about everything that we don't want to adult anymore.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter
morethanwheels

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
