Hi baby girl,

If you're reading this, congratulations! You have the coolest mom ever (I'm sure you already know this though). This also means you're educated and are able to read, and that makes me so happy and proud.

I am writing this article in 2016, many years before you were born. I think about you now already and how excited I am to be your mommy, but I am not rushing it because I want to make sure you are born into a stable home and that I can take care of you the way you deserve to be taken care of.

I want to let you know though...it's okay.

What's okay?

1. That boy/girl doesn't like you

It's okay, love. They don't deserve you anyway. They're paving the way for someone so much better to come into your life, please do not stress over them. But...

2. To cry

It is okay to cry...cry your heart out. It takes time to heal, but guess what? I will be here every step of the way to help you, I promise.

3. You don't look like the people in magazines

You are beautiful in your own way and I love you the way you are, and someone else will too. Don't change yourself to try and be someone else, we love you because you are YOU!

4. To make mistakes

You have no idea how many mistakes mom and dad have made. But guess what? You will too, numerous mistakes. Sometimes the same mistake multiple times. It's okay, you're only human.

5. To eat that 4th slice of pizza

Just do it...trust me.

6. Wear makeup...or don't

You are beautiful without it, but if it makes you happy to take your time and use your face as your canvas...do it! You are so talented and you should show it off.

7. Talk to me

If you have ANY questions, please ask me. Don't hide things from me, you're allowed to talk to me about things. Chances are I've been through it too, and if not...we will learn together. I will not get mad at you for being honest with me.

I have so much more to tell you but we will cross those bridges when we come to them

I hope you learned from this.

I love you,

Mom

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
