7 Things To Look Forward To Over Thanksgiving Break

And how to stay motivated to get things done beforehand.

If you're anything like me, school has been absolutely hectic the past few weeks. Big papers and projects are starting to be due, and, let's face it, even though we've known about them all semester, we didn't start them until just now. Presentations are happening. Finals are coming up. It's all just crazy.

Also, if you're anything like me, there is still some work that needs to be done at the beginning of Thanksgiving break (Thanks, procrastination.). However, there are some things that I am holding on to to keep me going. Here are 7 things you can look forward to on Thanksgiving (and the days following) that will hopefully encourage you to stay motivated.

1. Spending time with family

Yes, they may drive us crazy sometimes, but it is nice to get to see family we aren't able to see often.

2. Naps

Whether it's on a road trip to visit family or after your belly is full of way too much food, it is almost certain that you will have an opportunity to nap over break. Enjoy it, because naps are the best.

3. TV Marathons

They're inevitable. So many TV channels will be showing marathons of movies or TV shows. You're bound to be able to find something that fits your taste. So, look forward to curling up on the couch and binge-watching some awesome TV.

4. Food

It's Thanksgiving, which means there will be food, and lots of it. Home-cooked food. The kind we don't get with meal plans or really take the time to make for ourselves. You will likely eat until you want to puke. You will have a gigantic food baby. And it will be glorious.

5. Pie

No, it doesn't count as food. Pie deserves a category all of its own. And since it's Thanksgiving, there will be pumpkin pie. The best kind of pie. Get excited, folks.

6. The Christmas season will finally begin.

Although it has already begun for some, I am a firm believer that the Christmas season begins the day after Thanksgiving. Which means Christmas songs, movies and decorations are just around the corner. What's better to look forward to than the most wonderful time of the year?

7. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life

It's back, friends. Netflix has revived the best show in the universe, and it starts streaming the day after Thanksgiving. Nothing will motivate me more to get my homework done than having the opportunity to indulge in 6 new, fantastic hours of the world of Stars Hollow. I can't wait.

So, when you're struggling to get motivated to accomplish anything at the beginning of break, look forward to the awesomeness that is to come. Have a happy Thanksgiving!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
