Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of year filled with pumpkins, food comas, and family but not everything about this holiday is so...dreamy. Here is a list of a few things to expect on turkey day:

1. A family political debate

Aunt Shirley and cousin Arnold will probably have opposing views and we are sure to get stuck in the crossfire this Thursday. And we thought the election was over.

2. Family photos

They say "Let's get a group photo!" but before you know it they want one of the 4 generations of women on your mother's side, one of all the cousins, one of great grandma Rosie with all the grandkids, and so on. Four hours later there is little to be thankful for after fake smiling for 279 photos.

3. The famous relative making an appearance

Cousin Ally who is going to Princeton, your brother who travelled to Europe this summer, your aunt Elle who is getting married or - the best - your cousin Jessica who just had a baby. We all have a family superstar and they are bound to be the center of attention and conversation this holiday.

4. Food comas

Turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, devilled eggs, cranberry sauce, macaroni and cheese, pumpkin pie, oh how irresistible! Unfortunately it takes a lot of energy and stomach space and we all run out of those eventually.

5. The family drama

There will be at least one argument whether it's between you and your mother-in-law about how you cook or the kids about who gets to break the wishbone. Sometimes it is simply over petty things because let's face it: just because you're related doesn't mean you like each other.

6. 80% whipped cream 20% pumpkin pie

You do it, don't even try to deny it.

7. Your rich uncle's stories

Okay, maybe it's your grandpa or aunt but nonetheless we all have a rich relative that built a new house, visited 3 countries, went scuba diving, met a tribe in Africa, and had drinks with a celebrity this year.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
