Life is stressful and we all try so hard to make everything a little easier on ourselves. We try our best to plan ahead and make sure we can get a lot done in twenty-four hours. Unfortunately, life has a way of just messing things up. We are never positive that we can execute our plans on time because life is full of surprises. However, there are a few things we can do when things do not go as planned:

1. Accept what is happening.

I know it sucks that your agenda is ruined, and this can seem like the end of the world, but just accept it and move on.

2. Reschedule.

It is okay to not have enough time for everything. There are twenty-four hours in every day of the week. One of the other dates can be assigned for less urgent plans.

3. Do not panic.

You feel your running out of time, and maybe you are, but panicking is not going to help. Calm down and make a new plan.

4. Ask for help.

Yes, it is your work, but it never hurts to ask for help when you are becoming too stressed.

5. Remember that you're human.

You have basic needs that you cannot abandon. Take the time to get some sleep and eat an actual meal (and not just ramen.)

6. Have a day to relax.

When we make plans, we forget to put in relaxing time for ourselves. Take a day and do something you love, like read or go for a swim.

7. Pace yourself.

Learn to do a little bit at a time, and this will make your life so much easier.

The best thing to do when life trips you up is to slow down and regroup. There may not be enough time in one day to finish everything you planned, but there are six more in that week. You've got this.

I thought senioritis in high school was rough until I became a college senior about to go into the real world. I'm supposed to have everything figured out, right? College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life. But sometimes it's necessary to indulge in some guilty pleasures as well as just doing things because you can. And honestly, a lot of the time it's inevitable. College is no piece of cake that's for sure, so it's okay to do some things you deep down know you shouldn't....once in a while anyways.
