7 Things That Go Through My Mind When I Go To The Gym

No one ever taught me the right way to work out. They taught me to run and that's about it.

When I go to the gym I don't think about a whole lot of things but when I do, these are the thoughts that are running through my mind.

1. PLEASE don't get on the cardio machine next to me...

I go to the gym to do my own thing and I don't like when people get on the equipment next to me. I feel like there is a competition that is about to go on next to me (that's why I go to the gym when it isn't really super busy).

2. How close can I park to the gym so I don't have to walk super far when I am done?

I love working out and I try to go relatively early so that I can make sure I do everything that I need to do but when I am done spending my hour to hour and a half at the gym, I don't want to walk for another 6 miles to my car. I have things I need to be doing.

3. The gym isn't a place to socialize.

I know that sounds bad but isn't the gym a place you (may or may not) pay money to go to, to GET FIT?! I love that there are people that make friends at the gym but take the chitchatting to another area or something. I am at the gym to get fit and be healthy and I really don't like that people are talking really loud and right next to me. It just annoys me I guess.

4. Am I doing this right?

I am 19 years old. I took gym all through elementary school, middle school, and my freshman year of high school. No one ever taught me the right way to work out. They taught me to run and that's about it.

5. If I workout, think about the food I get to eat after.

I am a foodaholic and that isn't a good thing. I go to the gym so that I can justify my eating habits.

6. WOW, I wanna look like that.

I always see super skinny people in the gym and I am a thick person. I don't have a small frame. My parents are super tall and thick too and it runs in the family and I am so jealous because I want to be skinny.

7. Will this workout ever end?

I go straight to the cardio equipment because they have presets and i can do those and work on the parts of my body that i want to fix and i do 2 different workouts almost everyday. so that one hour that i am there makes me want to speed up time.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
