7 Things That Change After High School

High School is filled with awkward moments and drama but also with amazing memories. However it is only four years of your life, as time passes you forget the acquaintances, the awkward moments and who was prom queen. You finally realize that high school was only four short years of a long life. Many things will change when you graduate whether you want them to or not, just remember that things tend to change for the better!

1. Hanging out with friends is much harder

Suddenly everyone has summer jobs and is preparing for college. It's hard to meet up with six people at the same time when everyone has different work schedules. Prepare to have a lot of group texts, calendars and late nights in order to see those friends!

2. Paying bills

Maybe you paid some bills in high school, but now you are in the real world and it feels like you are paying $300 a month between food, phones, cars, rent etc.. Which means there is absolutely no extra cash for dinner dates with the friends! It's much harder to ask your parents for money, when you are not living with them or you play the adult card a lot. Prepare to find cheap nights out...

3. You find your real friends

Some people you only hung out with because you saw them five times a week for six hours a day. When high school ends, and you only hang out with a few people, you seem to lose contact with at least three quarters of your graduating class. So, you finally find out who your true friends are, the ones that will stick by you through anything and be super weird with you.

4. Friends are getting married

It feels like just yesterday you were playing tag on the playground and yelling boys had cooties. Now people are getting married and planning for children... and your casually still hanging out with your dog every night, watching the Notebook.

5. Awkward encounters with old acquaintances

It's awkward, when you finally see people from high school for the first time since graduation. You aren't sure if you should say hi, strike up a conversation or just run away. Sometimes it's best to just run away!

6. Visiting your old high school

The first time you visit your old high school, is almost cringe worthy. Whether it's to pick up a sibling, get your transcript or visit a teacher or friend... It's uncomfortable. Everyone you see asks a million questions about your life and future. Now you have to sign in as a visitor and you feel like you know no one. Worst of all you almost feel like you should be in class, and will get yelled at for not being in class!

7. You forget

Time passes and you forget a lot of things. You forget about that one time you tripped UP the stairs in front of everyone. You forget the drama filled rumors and fights that occurred in the lunch room everyday. You forget the music the DJ played at your semi-formal, every memory becomes a little distant. However you won't forget your amazing friends, and the great memories of your senior trip or prom, but you will forget all the little things that seemed so big to you at the time that no long matter.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
