I just took some midterms. They weren't fun.
But in the long and grueling process of studying for them, I tried to remind myself that my midterm grades actually won't alter the course of my life. They feel like the biggest deal right now but, at the end of our lives, grades won't matter!! Remember that when you've been in the library for five hours and you feel like your bread's on the floor. (Side note: "My bread is on the floor" is a cool idiom that means you feel like you're losing your mind. It's a real thing. Use it.) So, study hard for your midterms, but also focus on making these awesome things priorities, too! :)
1. Going outside and looking at the beautiful world around you.
Get OUT of the library, the classroom or your dorm room and breathe!!
2. Making quality iced mochas for yourself.
Why should you make yourself quality iced mochas? First of all, it's fun to pretend that you're a barista. And second of all, it gives you a caffeine burst AND it tastes like a dessert! It's a no-brainer.
3. Having meaningful talks with friends about your major and future plans.
Sometimes your friends can tell you more about yourself and what you need than your academic adviser can.
4. Jamming out to your favorite songs.
Music makes life better!
5. Enjoying your meals.
That might sound weird, but just rest and relax when you're eating meals with friends! Nothing is worst than rushing through lunch and dinner because you feel like you have a million places to go and things to do.
6. Taking advantage of the little spontaneous moments that make college awesome.
If someone is going on a Sheetz run, you should go.
7. Letting people know that they are loved and that they have SO much worth.
Remember that your worth is NOT found in your grades. Your worth is found in Christ! I'm not saying that I always remember that truth, but I do think that reminding others of it reinforces it in my own mind!
Isaiah 41:13
"For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you."
I wish you all the best on any midterms that you have left! Don't stress too much, because God is with you through it all!
