Being a local in the Brandon/Tampa area, I am always finding something new and fun to do and have grown really fond of some of these places lately. Next time you're looking to get out of the house, refer back to this list and you might find your new favorite spot.

1. Tampa Riverwalk

I know, I know. Pretty basic and probably an option you hear all the time, but have you been recently? Riverwalk is my current go-to when I wanna go for a run, or spend a night out with friends. The weather is almost always nice, it's clean, and you can see all the downtown lights at night.

2. Hyde Park

Who doesn't love a good trip to Hyde Park? You have the best options for food: Goody Goody, Bar Taco, On Swann... the list goes on. Need I mention dessert? Popsicles or cupcakes...or both! Also, everyone loves a cute picture at the white wall for Instagram!

3. Buddy Brew

While there is a Buddy Brew at Hyde Park, they are also all over the Tampa area, and for good reason! This is a super clean and chill environment to grab a coffee with a friend! (Still love my Starbucks the most though).

4. SOHO Juice

Oh. My. Gosh. If y'all haven't paid a visit to this place and gotten a smoothie or acai bowl, believe me when I say YOU ARE MISSING OUT. These heart-healthy snacks are seriously so good and worth the traffic!

5. Green Lemon

Again, wow. Food is sooooooo good, and the queso is a MUST. That is all.

6. Trader Joe's

Call me crazy, but I've never had a bad experience at Trader Joe's. The staff is friendly as heck, and you get great deals. And honestly, when is buying food ever a bad time?

7. Eddy & Sam's

If you haven't had a slice of pizza from this place yet, your time has come. Seriously this place is the yummiest and cheapest meal you're gonna find in the area.

8. Big Sporting Events

While I have only attended a Bucs game, the Tampa Bay Lightening have had a great season, and the games are known to be a really fun time for friends and family.

9. The Tampa Premium Outlets

There is nothing that I love more than a shopping spree and good deals. This outdoor outlet is the best place for some light shopping. They have high-end brands for low affordable prices. My favorite stores there include Steve Madden, Fossil and Saks!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
