Not just laying on the beach.

7 Things To Do This Summer

Summer. Just hearing the word gives me a warm feeling in my stomach. Beautiful weather filled with endless nights and mornings with countless adventures and activities to take place in. Everything just seems better in the summer, including the amount of activities you can do. Though there is nothing wrong with spending summer days laying in a beach chair, here are some not as common activities you could try out for this summer.

1. Buy a concert ticket to see a band you know nothing about.

No, not even the type of music. You and your friend can try and guess what kind of music the band plays, and dress accordingly. It could be interesting showing up in a country outfit to a punk rock concert. Plus, it'll be cool to hear a local band play.

2. Play a game of manhunt.

Childhood would not be the same without this late-night game with neighbors. You're never too old to have some fun. Get together some friends and relive one of the most exciting games to play when you were younger. Wearing all black is, of course, still necessary.

3. Let someone else order your meal at a restaurant.

I admit that I am guilty of ordering the same meal at the same restaurant every single time once I find one that I love. Try a new restaurant with a friend and have them pick a meal for you without knowing what it is until it is right in front of you. You may be surprised.

4. Go to an old movie theatre that plays old films.

Going to the movies is the most basic date one could go on. Mix it up a little and put a twist on the average date night by going to an old movie theatre and catching a nice black and white film.

5. Go on a picnic.

Another childhood memory that faded too soon. All you need is a park or a nature spot, a good group of friends, and you're set for a good day. Bring some KanJam and spike ball, too.

6. See a movie at the drive-in.

This is another option better than just a regular movie theater. Whether it be a date or a night with friends, the drive-in never disappoints. First, you can get there early and throw a frisbee and just enjoy the atmosphere. There is plenty of candy, snacks and food to choose from as well, but you can also fit unlimited snacks in your car. You can watch the movie feeling as comfy as being at home while still being out.

7. Go on a bike ride.

This you can do alone, on a date, or with friends. Take a bike and you can honestly go anywhere. Preferably choose a nice scenic route; but what's more enjoyable than a great view, relaxation, and exercise while you're at it?

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
