7 Things We Need To Understand
David Cronin

As we start to head into the final days of 2016, there are seven things we should all understand.

1. Life is hard, but you move forward.

“Life is a series of experiences, each one of which makes us bigger, even though sometimes it is hard to realize this. For the world was built to develop character, and we must learn that the setbacks and grieves which we endure help us in our marching onward.”

-Henry Ford

2. You must keep learning.

“Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow.”

- Anthony J. D'Angelo

3. Meaningful relationships should be easy to maintain.

“What defines a relationship is the work that's involved to maintain it.”

-Neil Patrick Harris

4. People will resent you at times.

“Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.”

-Eleanor Roosevelt

5. Your life is your decision.

“In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.”

-Abraham Lincoln

6. You're not entitled to anything.

“Don't feel entitled to anything you didn't sweat and struggle for.”

-Marian Wright Edelman

7. Every decision you make will have an impact.

“Every right implies a responsibility; Every opportunity, an obligation, Every possession, a duty.”

-John D. Rockefeller

Alright guys, let's finish up 2016 strong and head into 2017 even stronger.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
