I think my mom might be my best friend. She's been there for me through everything, I probably want to talk to her more times than I want to eat in a day and although she knows when to let go, she'll support me no matter what.
Here are a few things she's taught me over the past two decades that are hopefully useful to everyone!
1. How to share
I mean, she had a second child so I didn't have much choice.
2. How to open toothpaste or Polyfax
I initially had no idea that you could use the spiky thing on the cap of the tube to pierce the seal.
3. How to accept people's flaws and love them anyway
This is probably the most important one. My mom taught me that not everyone is perfect, and that's okay.
4. How to swim
I've been in a pool since I was like 6 months old. I think this is a useful skill.
5. How to not regret my previous decisions
"You made the best decision you could with what you had at the time."
6. How to love the beach
If it weren't for my mom, I would probably hate scratchy sand, slimy seaweed and saltwater in my mouth. Thankfully, because of her love for the beach, I'm not missing out on one of the best things nature has to offer.
7. How to not judge people
My mom taught me that there's always a gray area. There may not necessarily be a right or wrong.
