In my opinion, November and December are the absolute best months of the year. At this point in the semester, I am ready for a break. I am swamped by exams and papers and all I want to do is to curl up in a ball and eat food. The one thing that keeps me going is knowing that it’s my favorite season, and that I get to look forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas break.

1. Delicious food.

The months of November and December are filled with reasons for celebrating. With celebration comes delicious food. I for one am excited for Thanksgiving and Mom’s Christmas cookies!

2. Perfect weather.

Okay, maybe I get sick of the snow and the cold come January, but who doesn’t love chilly weather during the holiday season? It’s the perfect excuse to make a cup of hot chocolate! It brings back great memories of going sledding as a little kid.

3. Family!

I know so many people who complain about having to see relatives during this time of the year, but for a college student it’s the best. I never get to see my family so I cannot wait to get to see everyone (and not talk about the election).

4. Decorations.

I absolutely love coming home to the house all decorated for Christmas. It’s cozy and it makes me feel like a little kid again.

5. Shopping!

Sure the stores stock up with seasonal items too early, but I love department stores that smell like Christmas! Also, Black Friday Shopping.

6. Clothes.

Fall and winter clothes are the absolute best because you can layer comfy layers of sweaters and look like you tried.

7. Traditions.

My favorite part about the holiday season is getting to experience my favorite traditions. Thanksgiving Day means waking up early to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with my family, and at noon listening to Alice’s Restaurant on the radio. These are the things that I will never forget.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
