7 Things I Love About Summer!
Sara Accardi

Ah, Summer! There are many things about summer that are just intriguing! Time off of school (unless you have summer school/ summer classes), time to relax, late nights, just all together greatness! I find summer to be one of the hottest times around here, we have winter 9 months out of the year, no joke. I don't mind heat, that's why we have A.C! Here are a few things I love about the summer, and maybe you can relate!

1. Daylight Savings

I love daylight savings because well, when it's winter 9 out of 12 months, it gets dreary and blah. I hate the winter blues, and especially when it gets dark out fast. I love the nights when it's 9 O'clock at night and it's still light out. It makes the day seem longer and the nights a lot shorter!!

2. Bonfires

Not only are the days hotter but the nights are a little cooler, but not too cool. I personally love the smell of wood, either walking in a wood shop and smelling nice wood being worked on, or wood on a fire. Who doesn't like s'mores, friends and music (if someone has a guitar handy)? I know I do and bonfires are where that's at! I enjoy watching the flames die out or even just burn sometimes, it's entrancing. I enjoy spending time with friends hanging out, talking, laughing and singing. I enjoy music, singing, and guitar playing, bonfire songs. Fun times!

3. Quality Time

Yes you can have quality time during other times in the year, but usually during Summer there is plenty of time to spend with people you otherwise couldn't. More opportunity. I enjoy my quality time during the summer with loved ones, friends, my cat (jokes aside)... and people I don't normally see.

4. Traveling

Traveling is always nice; it's nice to be in a different atmosphere. I like going to new places, seeing things I haven't seen; also, seeing people I haven't seen! I love going to see friends who live out of town; traveling to see them is fun! I also like the types of traveling, which is like vacation. Granted, I don't get to do it enough, it is something I do love doing! Especially in summer when people are off from school/work.

5. Television

I don't know about you, but my favorite shows come on during the summer! I watch only a few but usually the best come in the summer. It's nice to watch new premieres and be able to binge watch late if your busy during the day. Some of my favorites are "Big Brother," "Pretty Little Liars," "AGT," and "The Fosters."

6. Weather

The weather where I live is cray. Yes I went there! 60% of the time there is snow on the ground, that 30% is other. I am not exaggerating! I love the weather during the summer, not so much the hotness or humidity but the cool nights and being able to wear shorts and a T-shirt with no coat on! It's amazing. I also love walking bare foot everywhere! I love nature and being able to be outdoors is awesome, and when we have sun that's awesome too 'cause this girl can get her burn and then tan on!

7. Camping

I love camping! Every year I will go camping. It's tradition. Wether it'd be camping with just a tent, camping in the sense working at a camp, or in a cabin, I love it all! I love nature, getting away from technology for however long, enjoying what is around me. I love hiking, going on adventures in the woods, sometimes getting lost, and the fun that just comes with camping. I love looking at the mountains, seeing the mist in the morning, looking out at the horizon to see the sun setting and the stars at night!!

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
