You are able to learn so much from your siblings, especially little brothers. I am lucky enough to have one. Here are 7 things that I learned from my younger brother.
1. Little kids look up to you, so it is important you are a good role model.
As much as younger siblings like to act out and act like they do not like you, believe it or not, they really do look up to you. They see the way you treat other people and the way you handle situations. They are always watching you and following your steps. Although it may not seem like a big deal because they are your sibling, make sure you are making good choices in front of them.
2. Eating little kid food is the best way to go.
Who doesn't love to sit down and eat a grilled cheese with a milkshake for dinner? Having a little brother that doesn't like to eat anything will force your mom to give you all whatever you want to eat to avoid a fight over dinner or having to cook 12 different meals.
3. It's okay to have fun, no matter what you're doing.
Having a little brother that is eight years younger than me, I have had to do many things with him and my family that may not seem like fun to a teenager, but that's ok. It is important to have fun with whatever you are doing. Whether you like it or not, be optimistic and make your sibling think you are having a good time because it will make their day.
4. They secretly appreciate you.
Even though they may seem all tough and old, deep down they really do appreciate you and like spending time with you. Even if they don't say it, they have a lot of fun doing things with you.
5. Always be on the lookout.
You never know when your little bro is going to jump out of nowhere and put you in a headlock, so always be ready to defend yourself! They may not look big, but trust me, they can hurt you.
6. It's not easy being a mom.
Although they are not your kid and you are not their mom, you have spent countless hours driving your little brother around and taking care of him. He is a lot of work, thank goodness you are not a mom yet!
7. Sometimes a hug is all you need.
When the high school drama gets to you, or when your parents won't stop yelling at you, sometimes all you need is a hug from your little brother, and you will start to feel better instantly.
