7 Things I Learned From My Best Friend

Did we just become best friends?!

7 Things I Learned From My Best Friend

Did we just become best friends — Brennan Huff - Step Brothers

I would like to think that everyone has got that one special person in their life that they will always put above all else. This person knows you from the inside out, understands your strange eating habits, and will put you in your place if there ever comes a time for the humble stick to be utilized. I am talking about a best friend.

But not your average best friend, I am talking like years-down-the-road best friend. You have put some miles into each other. You have dated many a questionable suitor to their barely there approval, but they will never judge you when it all comes back to bite you in the butt.

I have learned seven things over the course of my ten year friendship with my best friend including about what it takes to be a great best friend.

1) They will always be there to take any photo of you, anytime, anyplace.

They don't have to be nice about it either, but they know that if it is important enough to you, they will always come through and ensure they took at least five for you to chose from.

2) They are up for anything if you are.

Even if that means joining the local beer list when you are on a vacation up north. Your best friend will always be up for any kind of challenge presented and in true competitive spirit, they should always imply a friendly wager.

3) You tend to dress similar after a while.

If I have learned anything from my best friend, it's that half of the time we are going to end up coordinating in some way or another. Hey, at least you can find the other when you are at a huge public outing.

4) You tend to have fail safe activities.

Maybe it's always knowing the other is down to go see a movie, or inviting them to a local spot you both enjoy going to. It's a great way to catch up and do something that you both love!

5) After a while, their family becomes your family.

A new friend always has to invite you to family functions, but a best friend just assumes you are going to be there. Their family is always warm and welcoming whenever you show up at their doorstep. They are ready to laugh, hear about what's new, and (most importantly) feed you.

6) They are always down for a road trip.

A best friend understands the crucial part of hitting the open road, no matter what time or what is going on. They will always find a way to get you both out of the city your in for a little best friend RnR.

7) No matter what happens, you both will always evolve...together.

Interests may change, crush's may come and go, hobbies are hit or miss, but your best friend will always stay your constant.

It takes a lot to maintain a best friend relationship, but as the years seem to fly by, it's such a comfort to know that they will always have your back. No matter what.

Finals week is so rude! So, there's no one better to explain it than the Kardashians themselves!

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. We are expected to study, have a social life, relationships, maybe work, and be healthy. It seems pretty easy to do, and in high school all we wanted to do was graduate and move on to this next chapter of our lives. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.
