Here are 7 little tidbits of small and big things I have learned over my 19 years of living.
1. You don't need to buy expensive makeup to look good.
As a girl, I happen to be obsessed with makeup, however, as a college student my budget for buying said makeup is particularly low. Drug store makeup can give you the exact same look as if you bought it from a high end store. Of course it is nice to splurge once in a while when you have the money, but save a couple bucks in between!
2. Friends will come and go.
Over the years, I have come in contact with so many different people, and have had countless "best friends." I now know that true friends are the ones that stick with you through thick and thin. The ones you lose along the way are the ones who have helped shape your life and help you become who you are today.
3. Hug your mom. A lot.
Now that I am in college, I can't go hug my mom whenever I feel like it. I wish that I had gotten more hugs when I was home or growing up. Missing a parent sucks when you're so far from home.
4. It's okay to not look good all the time.
I love having my hair and makeup done, but sometimes it is honestly a pain. It is okay to leave the house without being all made up. No one is going to judge you or think any less of you, and it might feel really good.
5. Not everyone is going to like you.
Some people will just dislike you for no reason. You don't need these people in your life. Be yourself and you will find true friends.
6. Heartbreak sucks, but it will get better.
Getting your heart broken is one of the most painful things to go through. If you keep your chin up and realize that wasn't the person for you, it is much easier to handle. The right person is out there and you will find them.
7. You don't have to be a size 0 to love your body.
I, along with many other girls, probably wish they could squeeze into a different size than what they really are. However, you should love yourself the way you are. It's okay to go to the gym and tone up, but if you are anything like me, I will most likely never fit into a 0 or a 2. My body is not built that way. Instead, I have learned to love the way I am.
