Let's flashback in time to about three months ago when I was just barely packing to come to college. As I packed up the contents of my blue room, I started to think about what college would be like. I knew there would be hard time and happy moments, but no one really told me what to expect. Maybe they did, but I'm the type of person that has to live it to learn it. So here it is a list of seven things I wish I knew before I started college.
1. AP courses save your soul.
The less GE's you have to take the better. This means you have to take less classes, and you can get out of college quicker. Take it from someone who didn't take AP course — I really wish I did.
2. Taking all your foreign language classes in high school is a good idea.
Again this ties in with taking less courses. At my school, foreign language is very intensive. I only took two years of Spanish. If I had taken three, Iife would've been easier.
3. You have to prioritize your day.
This ties in with time management. You're responsible for yourself and all your assignments, so it's on you if nothing gets done. I have found that prioritizing is the best way to do things.
4. Transportation is key.
It gets pretty old staying on campus. Adventure is out there, but I'm stuck here! If you do not have a car, walking is great, or having a bike. Maybe taking an Uber here or there. The bus and trains are okay too, or you just make friends that have cars.
5. Know your limits.
I have found I can't do everything. Class, school, intramural, clubs, and a job — its hard to balance everything. It's hard to say no, but even harder still to balance everything.
6. Sleep is necessary.
Take it from the girl, who can fall asleep pretty much anywhere now. Sleep is necessary.
7. You will feel alone sometimes.
The statement is true, but the truth is you never really are. There are friends just down the hall, and the ones you love are just a phone call away.
