Moving On Quotes Today/ Blogspot

While most people who grew up in Jacksonville, Florida like to say that there is “nothing to do here,” we all know that there are many exciting things to do here. The upside to living in the biggest city (land wise) in the United States is that there is so much to do, the downside is that it might take you forty-five minutes to get there.

1.The Beach

The Jacksonville area is known for its many beaches. If it is a hot sunny day, that might be the perfect thing to do. Plus, it’s free.

2. Adventure Landing

If it’s one of those days where you can’t tell if it is going to rain or not, Adventure Landing is a good option. Not only do they have the water slides and lazy river, but they also have an arcade and laser tag inside.

3. The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens

If you feel like appreciating the beauty of animals or want to stand in a room full of birds flying around, then this would be the place for you.

4. Antiquing

Antiquing is something that has become very popular. If this is something you enjoy doing, there are a few antique stores in Jacksonville: Avonlea Antique Mall and Antique Market of San Jose. There are also a few in Orange Park and St. Johns, cities outside of Jacksonville.

5. MOSH

If you haven’t been here on a field trip when you were in elementary school, then now is the perfect time to go. Even if you have been before, why not go again? This is one of my favorite places to go. Not only can you learn a lot about science and history, but there is also the planetarium.

The Planetarium does Cosmic Concerts which is a light and music show to medleys from artists like The Beach Boys, Jimmy Buffet, Metallica, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and more. Your first Friday concert is only $5 plus $1 for laser glasses. On top of that, on Friday nights, it only costs $5 to go to the museum.

6. Cummer Museum

The Cummer Museum is a museum of art and gardens. I personally have never been here but have heard great things about it. Not only do they teach art classes but they also do Tapas Tuesdays every Tuesday evening from 5-7:30 pm where you can listen to local musicians and there is beer, wine, and tapas for sale.

7.The Alhambra

If you enjoy watching dramas and eating dinner, then the Alhambra is certainly the place for you. The Alhambra is a dinner theatre that puts on amazing shows with casts put together of fellow Jacksonvillians. Some of the shows they put on are The Wiz, Beauty and the Beast, and Annie Get Your Gun.

These are only a few things that one can do in Jacksonville, Florida for entertainment. There are many more exciting events that go on in our beautiful city. So the next time you say that there is nothing to do here, think again.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
