7 Things That Give You A Nervous Breakdown When Trying to Adult

Every college student experiences the horrors of "adulting" during college. Being a college student has its wonders but no one really sits you down and tells you just how much being an adult and doing adult things are going to suck until you actually experience it for yourself. We all think we're totally prepared for anything life is going to throw at us until we go through the following:

1. Making your own appointments.

Anything that has to do with phone calls seems scary and just wrong. It doesn't feel right making your own appointments because you're so used to your mom making these phone calls. It's even more awkward when you're shy.

2. Taxes.

You know you're supposed to do them, but where do you even begin? Do you call someone? When are they due? Filing your taxes does nothing but confuse you.

3. Being a poor college student.

It sucks not having money when you really need it. You're so used to having an allowance in high school that it just makes you sad looking at your bank account and realizing that you have to find a job in order to have money now.

4. Finding a job/internship.

Trying to find a job or internship in the real world is probably one of the hardest things that you have ever had to do. Even entry-level jobs are difficult to find because no one ever seems to be hiring when you're looking but it seems as though all of your friends are getting new jobs at the same time. Not to mention that you need experience to get experience.

5. Learning how to budget your money.

If you have a job or you magically got money somehow, it is EXTREMELY hard to not spend it all at once. It saddens you that you have to spend your money on toilet paper and groceries instead of a makeup haul. This makes you reconsider just how important toilet paper and other essentials can truly be.

6. Making your own food.

If you can cook, this doesn't apply to you but if you can't cook, you should probably learn how to cook so you're not stuck eating 25 cent ramen all the time.

7. Doing your own chores.

The best part about being at home is that your mom can do your laundry for you but it genuinely sucks that you have to do your own chores.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.
