7 Things Every College Senior Needs To Hear

If you're reading this then there's a good chance you're going through exactly what I am. Senior year of college. Did you ever think this year would come? Neither did I. When you think back to when you unlock your dorm room door for the very first time, the last thing on your mind is "I can already imagine senior year." Four years may seem like a long period of time, but it's not trust me. But if you're like me, then you've definitely experienced those days and nights when you serious weigh the pros and cons of dropping out. We've all been there. It may seem impossible to finish at different point in your college career, but if you keep your eye on then you will make it. But that's not to say you don't need a little encouragement every now and then. So here's a few thoughts of inspiration.

If you made it this far, you're doing great. Let's be real if you're a senior in college, you got this. You're basically done. The important thing is that you're here.

It's okay if you're not done after this year. You may be a senior that's heading into their super senior year and that's totally fine. It takes a little longer for some people and there's nothing to be ashamed about that. You're achievement is the same.

You will find a job after graduation. There's so much stress in this day and age to find a job that you can make a living off of. Stop worrying, you will. It may not be within your area of study right away but you will find a job and you will work your way up the ladder until you're exactly where you want to be. It'll happen.

It's okay if you didn't find love. Sometimes there can be a lot of pressure and expectation that you'll find your true love at college. Maybe not your true love but at least a love. You meet a lot of people in college, but just imagine how many more people you'll meet outside of college. Maybe you found love for two months, maybe two years, and maybe not at all, but the bottom line is, don't stress.

Just keep swimming (or studying). You're so close to being done. Keep your head above the water and take each day at a time.

It's okay to party until graduation. It's normal to party. Have fun while you're still in college. Just because you're a senior now doesn't mean you should stop partying. Yeah, it may get a little old. But only stop because it get old. Don't stop because you feel like you shouldn't because you're a senior.

You'll figure it out. During your last few months of college you have a lot to figure out, but you will figure it out. You'll find a job, you'll find a place to live, you'll make it as an adult. Yes, you should be thinking about it, but don't stress.

It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of senior year. I mean, you should be excited, but just remember that you need to put in just a little bit more effort and then you enter the real world.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
