For those of you who don't know or haven't heard...What is CrossFit?

In their own terms, "CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These are the core movements of life. They move the largest loads the longest distances, so they are ideal for maximizing the amount of work done in the shortest time. Intensity is essential for results and is measurable as work divided by time—or power. The more work you do in less time, or the higher the power output, the more intense the effort. By employing a constantly varied approach to training, functional movements and intensity lead to dramatic gains in fitness" (Crossfit, 2016).

This is what I have learned in the 4 months I have been doing CrossFit.

1. SCALES DO NOT MATTER
This is the biggest thing that I've had to work on realizing because scales are everything to women in society these days. Guess what though? I've gained over ten pounds since I started working out but I feel 300x better about myself.

2. YOUR BIGGEST COMPETITION IS YOURSELF
Yes, if you sit down and cry during a workout, the other people in that gym at that time are going to yell at you because they want to motivate you but it's your decision to sit it out if you want. You are the one who needs to change.

3. THERE ARE NO EASY WORKOUTS....FOR ANYONE!
Refer back to #2, you are always pushing yourself! Seriously, always.

4. GETING STRONGER IS THE ONLY OPTION
In the last 4 months that I have been there, I have gone from only being able to squat 30 pounds and now I can do 100.... There's no way I would've been able to do that without this gym. Everyday you go in there is a day you can get stronger.

5. THERES ALWAYS ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT
Again, refer to #4, every single day you make the decision to walk into the building is a day that you are bettering yourself.

6. YOU'RE NEVER ALONE
Especially with burpees.... We will all die together. Family, right?

7. IT'S NOT JUST A GYM, IT'S A HOME AWAY FROM HOME.
Where naps are totally acceptable after a WOD.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
