7 New Things I Did In Boston

I recently took my first road trip to Boston with my boyfriend. I had been there before to visit my siblings, but I tried a few new things while there.

1. I experienced a hot pot buffet.

As an Upstate New Yorker, I had never even heard of a hot pot buffet. To sum up the experience, you’re given a pot with broth in it that cooks in front of you. You then choose all sorts of noodles, meats, vegetables and seafood that is brought to your table to put in your hot pot. This is an unlimited buffet where you can make as much hot pot as you want. At the hot pot, we went to we also were able to get unlimited sushi.

2. I went to Salem.

Salem has a ton of little shops and museums. We went to a couple of these places and learned about the history of Salem

3. I had my first lobster roll.

I’m not sure why I had never had a lobster roll before because I’ve visited New England multiple times. I came to the conclusion that I like lobster rolls though.

4. I played Pokémon Go in a city.

Being from a small town that has one gym and seven Pokéstops, I was very overwhelmed by how many stops and gyms were in the city. Everywhere you looked there were a ton of lure modules on all the Pokéstops.

5. I went to the oldest tavern in America.

This was interesting to me because they played at least seven Justin Bieber songs in a row which I didn’t expect.

6. I shopped at a store I had never heard of before, Primark.

For those of you that do not know, Primark is an Irish clothing store that recently has entered the United States. As of right now, there are only five locations in the country. Primark is a lot like Forever 21 in terms of the types of things they sell there. Primark has way better deals than Forever 21 and you get a lot more bang for your buck.

7. I ate a fajita.

For some reason, I never had a fajita until my weekend in Boston. Which is weird to me because I love tacos and burritos so much. They were delicious though and I would definitely eat them again.

More of this list is about food I ate than anything else, but at least I was able to do a few things I hadn’t done before in the city of Boston!

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.
