If you're on social media, you know The Odyssey. More than likely, you have at least one friend who writes for us and floods your newsfeeds with pieces every week. But, if you are that friend, you definitely know some things to be true. Being a part of one of the largest online media platform teams absolutely has its perks, but part of it also takes over a little bit of your life. So, here's to you fellow Odyssey creators -- the struggles and joys we know all too well:

1. Writer's Block is Real

Staring at our computer for hours, typing, back-spacing, and re-typing a million times, asking anyone around for interesting ideas. We've all been there before.

2. Having a Great Article Idea at an Inconvenient Time

When the deadline is ten minutes away and you need to submit an article, there is nothing in your brain. When you're at a party, the middle of work, or driving a car, you think of the greatest articles ever...and then forget them as soon as you have a chance to write them down.

3. Finding a New-Found Appreciation for your Friends who Always Share your Articles

Every writer loves those friends who share their articles week in and week out, even if they don't relate to them at all. Having a friend who knows what, and is willing to do what helps you out is something everyone can appreciate.

4. That Great Feeling When you Contribute to the GroupMe

You've never actually met your team, but you kind of have this bond with them since they get what you're going through. When you're the one who answers a question in the GroupMe, or points something great out....it's definitely worthy of a little celebration.

5. The Excitement your Feel when an Article is Getting Tons of Social Media Attention

"I mean not to brag, but I'm kind of famous." Obviously, it's a great feeling when you know people are digging what you put out there. You feel important, like you did something right, and are sort of loving the "this is so well-written" comments.

6. Not Wanting to Admit How Much Time You Spent on Giphy while you Wrote your Article

If you write for Odyssey and have never used a gif in an article, you are in the minority. Odyssey writers love giphy.com and end up spending way too much time on it when they can think of a gif, and yet can't find it anywhere online. Eventually, you're so lost in the endless abyss of options, you start finding the kind of gifs that people look at say "this is the internet in one image."

7. The Joy of Writing a Piece You Love

The fact of the matter is, we all do this because we love to write. Any writing fanatic knows the feeling of pure joy, pride, and love for a piece that you get just right. Here, you don't even care if it gets tons of shares, or if people don't like it, you just love putting it out there for the world to read. Moments like these, are why we write.
