7 Things All College Students Think During A Lecture

Lectures can turn out to be really well or leaving you with the feeling that you really do not know anything that is happening in that particular course. Honestly, both of those feelings are fine and very typical of a lecture. It wasn't until my first lecture during my fall semester, that I experienced both of these feelings. For one of my classes, every lecture was engaging and I felt like I could really grasp the material. On the other hand, another one of my lectures made me my knowledge in that course. These are at least 10 things that some [if not all] college students think during a lecture:

1. Why am I taking this class in the first place?

Sometimes it may seem like you don't know what is happening or the material that your professor is going on. So there has probably been a time or two of where you sit there and just question why you decided to register for this class.

2. Oh wait....I registered for this class because it is a requirement of my major.

While trying to figure out why you are taking the class in the first place, you quickly remember that you registered for this class because you need it to complete your degree.

3. Well....on that note, should I just switch majors?

You start to think that maybe the major you originally selected is not the one for you. So you find yourself thinking of new majors instead of taking notes.

4. Is anyone else understanding what is going on?

You begin to wonder if any of you peers understand what is going on. You see people on their laptops and wonder if they are taking notes or either googling other majors to switch to like you are.

5. I have a test this Friday and I don't even know my V#.

You start to have a mini freak out session, because you remembered that your Unit 2 Test is this Friday and you cannot even remember your V number. Then you start to question if you should put your V number on it anyways, because you don't know any of the material.

6. Well....C's get degrees.

There comes a point where you just accept that C's will get you a degree.

7. Instead of hearing the lecture material, all you can hear is Charlie Brown's teacher go:

I am sure that majority [if not all] of us have thought of a couple of things on this list during a lecture. It's alright. We got this. Wah wa-wah.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
