Most people prepare for July 4th in a variety of ways, whether it be making plans to travel, or simply meet up at a friend's house. Though, as with any holiday, everyone dreads the aftermath; cleaning up, going home, etc.. So, here are a few ideas on what to do after the nation's day of Independence.
1. Start That Diet
You can and probably should start that diet you've told yourself you'd start since May, because, let's be honest, after all that food you've eaten at the family barbecue, you should find a way to burn off those extra thousand calories, and fast.
2. Call Your Friends/Relatives Who Aren't a Priority
Because if you didn't invite them to your vacation plan or they didn't invite you, and you saw how much fun they were having at their house with all of your friends on their Snapchat story, then maybe you should give them a call, so they don't completely forget that you exist. To remind them that you do, in fact, exist, and that you don't want them to forget you.
3. Deal With Your Sunburn
I know for a fact most of you didn't apply any at the beach or pool, and now it's your best friend, reminding you that it's got your back when you shower and sleep.
4. Call The Fire Department
Those illegal fireworks you set off were a bit too close for comfort, huh?
5. Apologize To That Person On The Highway You Cursed Out
I get it. It's late, and you've had a fun day at Six Flags, and you're tired and sleepy, and you just want to get home. But you're so close to the person in front of you, frustrated with how slow the traffic is, that you accidentally rear-end them, and then your insurance companies got into the mix, and so did profanity. But you're looking back and realizing that you were tired, and so were they, and that it was uncalled for to say you'd slit their throats with your credit card.6. Realize It's Already July
And if you're a college student, like me, that you've been home for almost two months and that you have a little less than two months before you move in.
7. Get Hyped For Your Internship and Summer Camp
Because literally the week following this week, and then two weeks after that, I get to go to my internship on my campus and then Youth For The Nations, the camp I went to last July, both of which I'm super excited for.
8. Neglect Your Relatives Until Thanksgiving
So they can ask you how classes are going, what your major is, and if you like your school. All. Over. Again.
