Winter is often met with frustrated sighs and complaints about the cold. I am guilty of much of this myself. Yet there are also some things about winter that are beautiful, cozy and fun! Here are a few of my favorite things about the snowy season.

1. First snows.

There is nothing quite like looking outside to see those first soft flakes dropping from the sky. The first snow is a sign of a changing season and all the wonderful things that come with it.

2. Reliving childhood.

As adults, we begin to associate winter with defrosting our cars and driving in blizzards, but the cold weather is also a reminder of past winters. Rosy cheeks, sledding, ice skating, snowmen. I love to be reminded of my childhood times playing in the snow with my sisters no matter how cold it got.

3. Cozy clothing.

I love bundling up in wool socks, hats, mittens, scarves and, most importantly, sweaters. Winter provides opportunities to use accessories to also keep you comfy and cozy. The more layers the better in my opinion.

4. Hot beverages.

I love coffee all year round, but I especially appreciate it in the winter. I also like to mix it up with hot chocolate, chai, tea, lattes and mochas. There is nothing like having a hot drink to warm your insides while your cheeks are still rosy and your fingers are a little frozen.

5. Fireplaces.

My favorite thing about my parent’s house is the fireplace. I have so many memories of standing next to my mom with our backs facing the fireplace while my sisters lay on the couch and we talk for hours, having to periodically convince each other not to go to sleep just yet.

6. Reading.

You know that reading list that has been growing all year? Here is your chance to start checking books off of it! Being snowed in is a great excuse to read for hours and hours.

7. Christmas lights.

The other day, I had to give up my spot in the driver’s seat because I couldn’t keep my eyes off the sparkling lights. One of the best winter pastimes is to get a full tank of gas and drive around your neighborhood picking out the prettiest shimmering house.

What did I miss? Brew a cup of tea, curl up in a blanket and start listing what you love about winter!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
