7 Best Things About Fall in Flagstaff

Fall's finally here at Northern Arizona University, which means it's finally starting to get cold, midterms are already here, and everything around us is changing. Here are the 7 best parts about Fall in Flagstaff.

1. The Colors

The trees around campus are starting to change colors, bringing a wide array of colors anywhere we look. Campus is looking as beautiful as ever, but we can't forget about the rest of Flagstaff...

I understand ASU and U of A are bigger schools and are more prestigious, but damn. They can't compete with the Fall colors of Flagstaff.

2. The temperatures are perfect.

During the day, it's just warm and sunny enough for a t-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops. At night, it's just cool enough for jeans and a light jacket. It's the perfect blend of temperatures, as it pleases both the people who prefer warm weather and the ones who prefer the cold.

3. We're getting a few more rainstorms and our first taste of snow.

When it's not warm and sunny, we have awesome rain and snow storms. Monsoon season is wrapping up, so we're still getting the tail end of crazy rain and thunderstorms. And while winter is still roughly 2 months away, we still get a snow storm or two.

These fall storms bring the first snow to the San Francisco Peaks, causing people to be downright stoked and incredibly anxious for ski/snowboard season.

4. Hot Chocolate, Apple Cider, and other warm beverages (Pumpkin Spice Lattes) are coming into season.

It's a great feeling on a cool and stormy night to make yourself a cup of hot chocolate or apple cider, binge watch Netflix, and just have a relaxing evening.

And of course, for whatever reason, Pumpkin Spice Lattes are ordered non-stop at Starbucks. They're ordered so much that Starbucks can't even keep up with the demand. Two weeks ago I was in line at Starbucks at 5 in the afternoon, and after the woman in front of me tried to order a PSL, the barista told her that they had just ran out of pumpkin spice.

That was probably a good thing too, because if they still had pumpkin spice, I probably would have ordered one. Because of peer pressure, though, not because I actually like them...

5. For us Greeks, it's philanthropy season.

Here at NAU in October, is seems like there's at least 1 philanthropy event every weekend. Everyone comes up with their best themes, dresses up crazily, and has an absolute blast while at the same time donating thousands of dollars to the philanthropic cause.

Shout out to my best-dressed winning team at Watermelon crawl, The All-American Try Hards!

6. Halloween

Halloween is fun for everyone in Flagstaff. There are tons of trick or treating for kids, and plenty of parties and other things to do for college kids and adults.

I already know my Halloween costume for this year. I'm going to be the lovely Sarah Jessica Parker.

7. Sports

The NFL is back, and since Flagstaff's a college town, tons and tons of people are glued to their TVs on Saturday to watch college football. On top of football, we also have baseball playoffs and the World Series. Sports are all over the place.

And if "Back to the Future" is accurate, the Cubs are going to win the World Series.

But let's be real. We know the Cubs aren't going to win. They're the Cubs.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

The holiday season is full of stress, debt, and forced conversation. While we rush through the month of December, it's important to take a step back and enjoy the moments before they're gone. Most families love to watch Christmas movies, but these beloved films provide more than entertainment. Here are 10 life lessons that I've learned from the holiday classics we watch every year.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
