I would first like to declare that contrary to popular belief, sweets solve everything. Having a bad day? In a funky mood? Or you're just plain hungry? Sweets to the rescue, my friend! I am a believer that certain sweet treats are best paired with certain moods.

1. The adventurous

Maybe you're feeling bold and ballsy in the dessert department. Opt for a fresh take on a classic, or seek whatever is the newest Insta popular (also known as a "gramable") treat. Think chocolate shelled desserts that require a hot sweet syrup of sorts to unveil the hidden treasure. The element of surprise is sure to fix your wanderlust tastebuds.

2. The savory

This is another opportunity to step outside your normal dessert comfort zone. Maybe a bourbon s'mores (complete with bacon) is calling your name or a slice of lemon thyme cake. For some savory options, look here and here.

3. The wallow

Head to the freezer because this is ice cream territory. The wallow is a specific emotion that is what I would consider to be the low of all lows. This is where you break out all the stops; however, ice cream usually gets the job done. I'm talking half-gallon size, not those wimpy pint servings (unless you buy several pints). This is also a time when it is socially and emotionally acceptable (and expected) to eat more cookie dough than you actually end up baking and devouring a panful of brownies.

4. The sweet

Really, anything externally covered in glucose fits this sweet mood. I'm talking donuts and beignets, bread pudding, crème brûlée, macaroons, baklava, pies, and every other possible treat. The genuine sweet, sugar cravings are best fixed with a hearty dose of the source, sucre (that's French for sugar).

5. The decadent

Reach for a slice from a towering chocolate cake to express your lavish mood. Nothing says decadence more than an extensively crafted chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream or ganache and chocolate shavings. Bathe in the decadence that is coco because you deserve it.

6. The "eh"

For when you are in just that "eh" mood, give your favorite cookie flavor a try. Preferably fresh from the oven (and filled with copious amounts of chocolate), this warm, gooey delectable is sure to turn your bland mood around.

7. Elation.

AKA the celebration, time to break out the funfetti and get mixing. Rainbow sprinkles are food confetti and directly correlate to a party mood. Yay, festivities!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
