Every year I reevaluate my summer bucket list and think about what things I want to do that I haven’t done before. While I branch out of my comfort zone from time to time and do something somewhat off the rails, I usually stick to a few personal favorites. Below are some of my tried and true summer bucket list activities that should be on everyone's list this year.
Water and Amusement Parks
Sure, going to the pool or the beach is fun, but going to a water or amusement park is even better. If you live nearby one of these attractions, I’d highly recommend checking them out at least once. Fair warning, if you want to avoid mass crowds and screaming children, try to go on a weekday. Chances are even though children are out of school, the parents are stuck at work unable to take them.
Concerts
Get your blankets and grab a beer, summer concert season is here. Summer concerts are like none other. Good music, great weather, and even better company, who could ask for more? If you’re interested in going to a few concerts this summer, check out this list of artists that may be coming to a city near you.
Camping
I get it, camping doesn’t always appeal to everyone. Sacrificing everyday luxuries such as electricity, a clean private bathroom, and air conditioning can be a tough pill to swallow. If you’re willing to stick it out, camping is a really fun experience, especially if you’re in a cool location, such as a lake or state park. It’s also relatively cheap, assuming you already have all the equipment.
Baseball Games
Baseball games are a classic Friday night summer activity. It’s a family-friendly event that is sure to provide entertainment, good food, and allows you to soak up rays until the sun goes down. Consider yourself lucky If your city has an MLB team as these games are the cream of the crop. According to a study by CustomInk.com, some of the teams with the most special events are the San Diego Padres, the Kansas City Royals, and the Milwaukee Brewers.
Picnics and Barbecues
Why eat indoors when you can eat outside? Send out a mass text to your friends, family, or both, and invite everyone over for a backyard barbeque or a picnic in the park. It’s a wonderful bonding experience filled with good food and great company.
Road Trips
Going on a trip this summer? Don’t fly, drive. If you have or have access to a reliable car, take every opportunity to go on a road trip. They are one of the most eye-opening, adventurous things you can do in your lifetime. Not to mention, sometimes the journey on the way to your destination is more fun than the trip itself. Think of all the countless places to stop and things to do while on the road, it’s almost endless.
Get Outside
Just get outside! Take advantage of the wonderful weather that happens, depending on where you live, a short portion of the year. Soak up the sun, bring the indoor activities, outdoor, and don’t forget your SPF.
