Spring break is the most anticipated break of the year. It's the end of dreary winter and the begining of celebration for the end of the school year. But when spring break ends we have to go back to reality and face the daily grind once more. Here are 7 struggles you might feel after spring break.

You Did Get Sunburned On The First Day

No matter how many bottles of sunscreen you bought in advance, or how many times you applied it there will be a burn. No amount of suntan lotion could have prepared you for the redness and irritating peeling that that comes after a burn. Just hope that all that sunscreen didn’t go to waste.

There Is Still Sand Everywhere

It doesn’t matter if you washed, dried or scrubbed every last bit of clothing you own at a last ditch effort to remove all traces of sand before going home, there will still be sand. In your car and in your shoes. On Monday morning when you wake up and are completely perplexed as to why there is sand in your sink or the bottom of your coffee mug you’ll know you had a wild and adventurous spring break.

You’re Definitely Not Ready For School

Yeah that 8 page paper you said you were gonna go all gung ho on over break hasn’t even been touched and there’s no point in starting it now. Here’s to not remembering everything that’s due on Monday until the night before and losing all sleep over it.

Or Work For That Matter

(See #3) But add getting up early and having to deal with people a whole lot more than normal.

You Need A Day Just To Recover From Travelling

This is inevitable. Plan ahead because you’ll need an entire 24 hours or more to recover from vacation mode. This is prevention of a possible vacation coma in where the subjects succumb to fatigue, dread and little to no will power. Without the one day in between the usual daily routine, vacation coma is sure to strike. There’s a reason some naps are called Power Naps.

Aloe Has Become Your New Best Friend

After that first day burn there is probably a week long one that you may have gotten from accidently falling asleep on the beach or not wearing a hat or sunglasses, but it happens. So don’t be ashamed when you go back to the store for that 2nd or 3rd bottle of Aloe, of which has become a daily skincare routine.

You’d Rather Be Listening To The Ocean

If there was anything soothing that could get you through this next week of non-vacation it would be to be back on that beach with the same soft sound of the waves. The breathless sunrises and sunsets and the ocean breeze to lift us away. But that’s what vacations are for,to release yourself from any tension and stress that the daily grind usually brings. Whether they are short, at home, on a cruise, at the beach or anywhere, a vacation is a vacation and it’s worthwhile to treasure every moment.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
