It's that time of year again. The time of year where you have to wear sunscreen every day, or else you'll face the consequences later that night. People who are cursed with skin that glows in the sun because of how fair they are, or those who burn so easily because their skin is that sensitive understand the pain. If you suffer from skin that burns easily, you understand how necessary shade is, and how being tan is sooooo overrated. Grab your S.P.F. 100+ because here are 7 HOT struggles only because who burn will understand.

1. Accepting that you'll never be the sun-kissed babe all the country stars sing about

All of your friends seem to be gorgeous with their sun-kissed skin, basking in the sunlight looking even more tan. Then, here you are with your red skin and ugly tan lines from your shoes from just a 15 minute walk outside.

2. Trying anything to get rid of the sunburn pains

Aloe Vera definitely is your best friend when it comes to sunburn, there are some crazy remedies out there using ice-cream, mayo, cold beer... the list goes on forever.

3. Not understanding why everyone loves summertime so much

Of course, you like the 4th of July, school being out, and hanging out with all of your friends.. but seriously. The sun is a scorcher, especially if you live down in the south. A day when the weather is in the high 80s is a "cool" day.

4. Forever spending money on spray tans, self-tanner, etc. just to appear normal

Let me just state this now: Spray. Tans. Never. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. End. Well.... Ever. That's all I have to say about that.

5. Having multiple shades of skin pigmentation

When this happens to you, you know that you're in some deep sh*t. If you ever reach this point, just accept the farmer's tan and stop layering your sun burns. It's not worth the pain.

6. Avoiding cute bathing suit trends because you know it won't work out in the end

Those scrappy bathing suits may be cute while you're on the beach, but later that night when you're at dinner they're not going to look so cute anymore. Just avoid these at all costs.

7. The struggle of finding clothes that will look nice on your new skin tone

Before the sun cursed you with your new pink/red skin, EVERYTHING looked good on you before. Now, you're better off just wearing a ton of pink and red because people are going to tell you how sun burnt you look anyways.

So there you have to folks. Just slap on some sunscreen, make sure it covers every inch of your pale body, and hope for the best. After all, skin cancer isn't cute or fun.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
