As a college student, I am finding this whole being broke thing a struggle. I'm constantly having to ask my parents for money, and I even have a part time job. One day I decided to put my hobbies of knitting and making jewelry to use and out popped my idea for a small business. Stitches and Stones is a small business specializing in handmade knit-wear and jewelry. I am very excited to get this all going, however getting it started takes a lot of struggling. Here are seven struggles one might have while starting a small business.

1. Money

This always seems to be an issue. How are you supposed to start a small business if you don't have enough money to even feed yourself?

2. Planning

You have to create a product line, plan out all the marketing, set a launch date, etc. etc.

3. Marketing

In order to make a profit, you have to market your product, which is a pain in the butt. Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter are the best marketing tools.

4. Staying Organized

If you are like me and don't have a huge area to store your product, it can get very hectic.

5. Making a Website

Most website hosts charge you a boat-load to sell online, you have to find the right host and go from there.

6. Making Sales

This is probably the hardest part, how are you supposed to run a business if you don't even make a profit?

7. Staying in Business

Did you know that while 400,000 new businesses start each year 470,000 fail each year? The odds, sadly, are not in your favor. But, if you work hard for it and have a great product, you will be successful.

5 Untold Struggles Of The Short Friend

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone
Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
