Late People

This week’s article compliments and supplements last week’s article to an extent, following along the same topic just from a different perspective. If you haven’t read my previous article “10 Thoughts About Those Who Are Always Late” feel free to check it out after reading this one! This one is about the struggles that people who are late often go through.

1. When you’re supposed to be in class or in a meeting but you’re five minutes late and the door is locked.

I’m sure from time to time we’ve all experienced this. I hate to say it but since entering college I’ve seen it occur to students pretty often and at times it can be heartbreaking. Often times people are courteous and still let you in but that doesn’t exactly excuse your tardiness.

2. People not understanding why you’re late.

While many of us don’t find it difficult to arrive somewhere on time it’s a near impossible task for others and those of us who are time cautious just don’t get it.

3. When you arrive late, and people point at their wrists like they are wearing a watch or something.

You aren’t wearing a watch, stop looking dumb. We get it, the person’s late what are you gonna do. Technically their lateness isn’t any of your business and if that’s your biggest concern in life feel free to chill.

4. Public transportation actually being on time.

This may not be the biggest concern for some who live in small to midsize areas but those who rely on public transportation often know the struggle. People who tend to be running late tend to want the bus or train to do the same but sometimes the odds just aren’t in their favor.

5. This goes along with number four, a movie actually starting on time.

Always late and movies are no exception the only difference is you usually have credits that are continuously scrolling to buy yourself some time to get there you know except for the time when a 3:00 movie actually starts at 3:00.

6. When people use the ending –ish when deciding on a meeting time.

An example of that would be: let’s meet at 5ish (anytime between 4:50-5:50 is completely acceptable). That’s actually a bit of leeway for those who are deemed “late people” because there isn’t a specific time just an ideal hour is all.

7. When you actually arrive somewhere and people try and lecture you about your time management skills.

*Eye roll* as if it’s something you haven’t already heard before. Yes, we can all see the person is late but at least they showed up. No sense in wasting your breath lecturing when it’s only going to go in one ear and out the other. It’s their life not yours, focus on the more important things in life.

Late people are all their own. No matter how hard some try they will still be late. The truth is many of their friends count on them to be late. You will forever be that late friend and forn some they are completely okay with that. Generally speaking, I’m not one of these “late people” but it’s interesting looking into one’s world through a different lens and point of view. Feel free to let me know y’all’s thoughts on the topic.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
