Faster Horses Music Festival is just a few weeks away and excitement for the event is in full swing. Whether you are a hardcore country fan or just someone along for the ride, it's a weekend that will definitely reach your top five summer events list because it's just plain fun. Of course the best way to have a blast is to prepare so that when you finally arrive at the race track and pitch your tent, the only thing on your mind is the party ahead.
1. Bring as much water as humanly possible and drink it as often as you can.
Inside the festival they have a free water stand, but that will not be enough. Being outdoors, sleeping in tents and participating in all the things that come with country music festivals will leave you thirsty.
2. Bring money to purchase at least one brick oven pizza.
It may not seem crucial, but it is. The pizza truck that comes each year serves up some of the best pizza in Michigan. Not to mention in the middle of the day when you are far from your campsite and food supply what is better than a warm, personal pizza?
3. When it comes to bringing food, just bring things that can sit out for days and that will be easiest to eat quickly.
I'm talking cereal, granola bars, Uncrustables and all the other little things your mom used to pack in your lunch for school. Not only will it be easier to pack in the car, but being able to carry around some food throughout the day could decide whether or not you make it through the long afternoon into the night without falling asleep.
4. Be prepared for any kind of weather.
In years past it has been boiling hot one day and storming the next. Pack bathing suits, shorts, sweatshirts and rain apparel because you just never know. On that note, do your best to make sure there is room in your car if the sad event of your tent flying away occurs.
5. Bring a hat.
Whether you're a boy or girl, you will feel absolutely disgusting by the third day and you will want to hide your greasy hair and sun burned face with a hat. But don't worry, every single person is feeling the same way, so instead of having less fun, it's really just a chance for everyone to let loose one final time.
6. Make sure you travel and camp with people you trust who will stick by your side throughout the day.
It may seem like advice from your third grade teacher before a field trip, but she was on to something. The festival is huge, the campsite span across so many different lots and even if you are Lewis and Clark themselves, getting lost is quite easy. In the event that you lose your buddy or buddies for the weekend, it helps to write down the area and number of your campsite on your arm or something you will not lose and festival workers can assist you in getting back where you need to be.
7. Last but not least, on the last morning when you are packing up your things and hitting the road, wait a few miles before you stop off for breakfast.
The first McDonalds that you pass while leaving the race track will be packed with other Faster Horses goers and it will take forever to get your food.
