Anyone who works full time on their breaks from school knows there are some definitive phases that you go through as the break goes on. From the initial happy summer thoughts to eventual exhaustion, here are the 7 phases of working full time.
1. Initial Excitement
As soon as classes end and your job begins, you actually look forward to working instead of constantly heading to class, studying, and being overwhelmed by school work.
2. Learning The Job
You are partially excited to be learning something new but also a little concerned with the responsibilities you are given considering you aren't entirely sure what you are doing.
3. Adjustment Period
You find that the first few weeks almost fly by but they start to slow down over time as the work grows a little boring and you get a little too used to your daily routine.
4. Paydays Begin
For once, clocking into work isn’t the saddest part of your day knowing that paycheck is coming. Lets be real, you ere getting pretty desperate for the money anyway.
5. Increased Caffeine Consumption
In order to compensate for the sheer number of hours you are working, the number of coffees you drink in a day starts to gradually go up.
6. Sheer Exhaustion
After working 40-60 hours a week for months on end, you grow extremely tired of your early mornings and lack of free time.
7. Waiting For School To Start Again
By the end of the summer, you are so incredibly ready for the change of pace new classes and a new schedule creates and can’t quite remember why you were excited for summer to begin with.
In the end, you are very thankful for your summer job and will miss your co-workers dearly. By the time it's over, you can't wait to do it all over again the next break.
