7 Stages Of Having A Long Distance Best Friend

Time flies when your best friend is telling you about her latest conquest... isn’t that how the saying goes?

My boyfriend is going to kill me when he reads this, but my long distance relationship with my best friend is harder than my long distance relationship with him #sorryNOTsorry. Here’s the seven stages you go through when you enter a long distance relationship with your BFF:

1. Feeling abandoned

I’ll admit it, after we leave each other I always feel a little lost and hopeless and scared that she’s going to find a new best friend, but then I remember that nobody else in the world could put up with either of us and we have far too many secrets, so looks like she’s stuck with me *mwahaha*

2. Texting WAY more than ever before

To be honest, I can't remember the last day that I didn’t text her. We’ve gotten so used to talking 24/7 that even when we are back in the same city we still text all the time. I have to consciously think about how she has a life outside of talking to me to stop myself from texting her all the time.

3. You drunkenly confess your love for her

When she’s not by my side, I have to make sure she knows how much I love her and I always fell the need to tell her how I’m out for the night and wish she was with me so we can go dance to Meghan Trainer’s ‘NO’ because nobody else in the world wants to listen to that song let alone dance to it with me except her.

4. Your relationship strengthens

Being away from my bestie made our relationship stronger than it ever was. We appreciate our time together and put in the extra effort to stay close because neither of us wants to lose the other one.

5. When you visit each other things get a little out of hand

When you’re finally reunited, there is just too much excitement to keep things casual for the night. Whether her and I go out or stay in, every time one of us visits the other we know it’s going to get crazy.

6. FaceTime conversations turn into hours of secret-telling

Time flies when your best friend is telling you about her latest conquest... isn’t that how the saying goes? I’ve disappeared to my room for half a day to talk to my bestie about every last detail in my life, because she, of course, need to know!

7. Even though you don’t see each other every day, nothing changes how close you are

When I finally do see her again, we pick up right where we left off even if it’s been months since we’ve been face-to-face.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
